Greg Gartland

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer, Greg Gartland brings more than two decades of experience scaling global data and analytics businesses. His strong and consistent track record of innovation, execution and team leadership will ensure 3E’s continued expansion of its value proposition to customers and partners and accelerating 3E’s momentum and growth.

Greg previously served as Chief Product Officer at S&P Global Market Intelligence where he had oversight for all products including desktop, mobile, data feeds and APIs, along with Market Intelligence’s Credit Risk Solutions group. Greg joined S&P Global when it acquired SNL Financial, which he joined in 2005. He led SNL’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate business lines and before that was Managing Director and Principal of SNL’s client education group and operation. Prior to SNL, Greg helped launch a startup in the e-learning space and spent several years in management consulting. He started his career as a product manager at Greenwich Associates.

Greg serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. He received an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree in finance from Villanova University.

Louise Botham

General Counsel

As General Counsel at 3E, Louise oversees the company’s legal functions, provides legal advice in support of the company’s international business, manages risks, and provides executive oversight of 3E’s human resource function.

Louise draws upon her global legal and entrepreneurial background to constructively challenge the status quo, increase operational efficiencies, and establish new processes and procedures to support the growth of the business. She is passionate about productivity and innovation and applies critical thinking to establish the right tools, technologies, and solutions that will enable the business to continue to scale.

Before joining 3E, Louise was General Counsel to a start-up named as one of the fastest growing private companies in the US and she led the business through a period of hyper-growth. Prior to that Louise gained over a decade of experience in private practice providing legal advice and services to businesses and entrepreneurs – with a focus on emerging markets.

Louise and is a dual-qualified attorney, admitted to practice law in California and in England and Wales. Her legal experience is multi-jurisdictional having practiced law in the UK, US and several years in the Middle East. Educated in England, Louise earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and went on to graduate from Liverpool University with a Master’s Degree in International Law and Business. She holds the information privacy professional (CIPP) certifications for both Europe and the US.

Louise gives back to the community by providing pro bono legal services and mentoring young adults. In her spare time Louise is an avid reader, loves to rock climb, and enjoys hiking with her dogs.

Justin Byron

Chief Financial Officer

As chief financial officer, Justin Byron leads the development and execution of 3E’s financial strategy, establishing financial performance objectives, managing financial processes and systems, and providing guidance on mergers and acquisitions. He also oversees the company’s accounting, accounts receivable, and financial planning and analysis functions.

Justin brings a wealth of diverse experience to his role, having held several financial leadership roles within the technology, energy, and healthcare industries. Prior to joining 3E, he led the corporate finance team at ServiceNow, where he was responsible for managing all financial planning and analysis activities, including the preparation and management of the annual plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial planning. He’s previously held leadership positions with Asurion and GE.

Justin holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University and a BS in finance from the University of Louisville. He’s also a graduate of GE’s Financial Management Program.

Oliver Danckert

Senior Vice President, Global Strategy and Managing Director of 3E Europe GmbH

As senior vice president of global strategy, Oliver Danckert leads 3E’s Content as a Service (CaaS) portfolio, working with a cross-functional team to define and deliver exceptional solutions. He’s also responsible for contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company. In his role as managing director of 3E Europe GmbH, Oliver drives growth and strengthens relationships with customers in Europe.

Before SAP’s CaaS business was acquired by 3E, Oliver led that division, serving as vice president of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Regulatory Content and EHS Regulatory Documentation. In his additional role as chief product owner, he defined the strategy for SAP’s Product Compliance portfolio and was instrumental in the product direction and roadmap for the software development of SAP EHS Management and SAP S/4HANA for Product Compliance. Before SAP’s CaaS business was acquired by 3E, Oliver led that division, serving as vice president of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Regulatory Content and EHS Regulatory Documentation. In his additional role as chief product owner, he defined the strategy for SAP’s Product Compliance portfolio and was instrumental in the product direction and roadmap for the software development of SAP EHS Management and SAP S/4HANA for Product Compliance.

Prior to joining SAP in 2011, Oliver held several senior positions at TechniData, being responsible for merger and acquisition activities, line of business (LOB) operations, and the company’s consulting business and ending his tenure as a corporate vice president.

Oliver holds an executive MBA from Furtwangen University in Schwenningen, Germany, and an MS in physics from Osnabrück University in Osnabrück, Germany.

Matthew A. Johnston

Senior Vice President, Global Business Development

As senior vice president of global business development, Matthew Johnston leads the 3E Sales team in their efforts to expand customer relationships, penetrate new accounts, respond to new market opportunities, and contribute to the company’s aggressive international and domestic growth plan.

Matthew brings nearly 20 years of experience to his role. He’s served as director of sales and business development, responsible for driving the success of 3E and 3E Generate (formerly MSDgen) through sales, marketing, and product management. He’s also contributed to major strategic initiatives to integrate 3E Generate with other 3E solutions, as well as many product development, content development, and thought leadership activities.

Matthew’s been part of 3E since its 2007 acquisition of HSE Systems/MSDgen, where he was one of the original principals and served as director of business development, responsible for business development, sales, and marketing.

He holds a BA in business management and marketing from Kent State University. He’s a graduate of the Data Science Principles for Executives program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Verisk Leadership Excellence program at the Harvard Business School.

Jason Handy

Chief Transformation Officer

As chief transformation officer, Jason Handy identifies and executes key initiatives to accelerate innovation, drive growth and increase value for customers. He is responsible for leading cross-functional collaboration to effect positive change.

Jason has nearly 20 years of experience in the information services industry serving in technology, back office and corporate strategy roles. Most recently, he was the global head of digital fulfillment and delivery operations at S&P Global Platts where he led a global initiative to simplify the product catalog and improve the client buying experience.

Jason holds Master’s degrees in chemical engineering and business administration from the University of Virginia and a BS in biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire.

Alex Ortiz

Vice President, Global Regulatory Content

As vice president of global regulatory content, Alex Ortiz ensures the production and delivery of 3E’s regulatory reference products and integrated content for third-party platforms.

Alex has been with 3E for more than 20 years, supporting customers on a wide range of international regulatory compliance issues. He’s led many product development projects designed to provide regulatory compliance professionals with timely environment, health, and safety (EHS) information on a global basis.

Alex holds a JD from the George Washington University Law School and a BA in international/global studies and French literature from Towson University. He’s also a graduate of the Data Science Principles for Executives program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Verisk Leadership Excellence program at the Harvard Business School.

Leo Oves

Chief Information Officer

As chief information officer, Leo Oves sets 3E’s technology strategy and directs its technology operations. Over the years, his knowledge and ability to apply advanced technology to the business needs of customers have played a pivotal role in the development of 3E’s products and services.

Leo brings more than 30 years of experience in information technology (IT), management, and environment, health, and safety (EHS) to his role. Before serving as CIO, he was 3E’s vice president of research and development. When 3E (then 3E Company) acquired Ariel Research Corporation in 2004, Leo was Ariel’s CIO and vice chairman of the board of directors, having joined Ariel in 1992 as a senior software consultant.

Prior to joining Ariel, Leo was a software development consultant for Hughes Network Systems and Plantronics. Before moving to the U.S., he worked for several research institutes in St. Petersburg, Russia, developing models and software for the optimization of large multi-product marine transportation networks and satellite communications.

He’s a recognized industry expert and represents 3E at numerous international IT and EHS forums.

Leo holds an MBA in management from the University of Maryland, as well as an MS in operations research and a BS in computer science, both from the University of St. Petersburg. He also holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Clark VanScoder

Senior Vice President, Services

As senior vice president of services, Clark VanScoder is responsible for managing the development, project management, and technical service efforts for all services within 3E, including outsourced safety data sheet (SDS) authoring, regulatory consulting, hotline and emergency response services, and facility environment, health, and safety (EHS) services. He also leads the 3E Data Obtainment and Manufacturer Relations teams, which are dedicated to collecting data from the company’s network of more than 150,000 supplier manufacturers.

Clark has more than 25 years of software development experience and nearly 20 years of experience in the EHS industry. He was the driving force behind the growth of 3E’s authoring platform, 3E Generate (formerly MSDgen) and has managed many successful large 3E Generate implementation projects for Fortune 500 companies around the globe. He was the first employee and one of the original partners of HSE Systems, which was acquired by 3E in 2007.

Clark holds an MBA in management from Akron University and a BS of Science degree from Kent State University.

Tamie Webber

Senior Vice President, Innovation, Operations and Experience

As senior vice president of innovation, operations, and experience, Tamie Webber spearheads the company’s intense emphasis on product innovation, customer experience, and culture transformation. She brings her passion for solving customer problems and fostering collaborative relationships, coupled with her analytical and data-focused perspective, to the role.

Tamie’s been with 3E for more than a decade, starting out as a product manager for the company’s flagship safety data sheet (SDS) management application. With a proven aptitude for defining and implementing product strategy, her responsibility soon expanded to include the overall strategy and direction for all products as well as global customer support.

She’s been listed as an honoree on the Environment & Energy Leader 100, which recognizes environment and energy professionals who help their companies achieve greater success in commercial and industrial environment and energy management.

Tamie holds a BS in finance and marketing from the University of Oregon.

Outside of work, she coaches youth soccer teams in her community.
