On 17 June 2021, the Colombian Ministry of Health published Resolution 810 of 2021, establishing the technical regulation for nutritional and front of package labeling of packaged or bottled food products intended for human consumption, providing new requirements for the labeling of food and beverages products in Colombia. The new requirements will come into effect 18 months from 17 June 2021.

Resolution 810 of 2021 (810/2021) establishes requirements for nutritional and front of package warning labels of food and beverages for human consumption. These requirements ensure that the information shown on labels is clear, understandable, and does not induce consumer error.

The regulation exempts children's formula, food for special medical purposes, natural foods, and bulk food products, among others from these requirements.

The regulatory requirements demonstrate how nutritional values should appear on labels. It establishes limits for non-significative quantities, expression units for the mandatory declaration of ingredients, reference quantities for food products, health benefits and properties' declarations, and warning pictographs, among others.

Finally, the resolution derogates article 3, of Resolution 4135 of 1976, Resolution 333 of 2011, and articles 5.2 and 6 of Resolution 2508 of 2012.

Resolution 810/2021 will become effective 18 months after 17 June 2021, except for returnable beverage bottles which will have five years to adapt to the new requirements.
