The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40, establishes rules across the entire packaging lifecycle to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability, support reuse, and increase recycled content across the EU market. The EU packaging regulation adopted in 2025 replaces the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (94/62/EC) and applies directly in all EU member states. PPWR entered into force on Feb. 11, 2025, applies generally from Aug. 12, 2026, and phases in further requirements through 2040.
